Garriott sues NCsoft for $24 million

Richard Garriott, the creator of Ultima and Tabula Rasa, is suing former employer NCsoft for 24 million buckaroos. Of course any further detail is not known as it is an ongoing suit, but it looks as if the nature of the suite is related to, “Torts – Property – Other Fraud”. Wikipedia helps us out explaining what Tort law is:

Tort law is a body of law that addresses, and provides remedies for, civil wrongs not arising out of contractual obligations.

The rest I’m going to steal from GameIndustry.biz, that’s where the original article is anyway.

Garriott (aka Lord British) famously left online publisher NCsoft in November of last year, following both his sojourn on the International Space Station as a space tourist and the commercial failure and closure of massively multiplayer online game Tabula Rasa.

It was not clear at the time which event had had the greater influence on Garriott’s decision to leave NCsoft and whether the split had been amicable. Garriott’s comments seemed to suggest he would be distancing himself from the games industry, as he spoke of his intent to pursue “new interests”.
