Pricedrop for PS3 and Xbox 360 Because ArsTechnica Says So
So apparently Ars Technica has a super secret mole that knows super secret things.
In regards to the PS3, they really don’t have any details. They mention that there will be more 160GB models on shelves and we will slowly start to see less overall units available. This is pretty common sense looking at Sony’s track record with the PS3, they will slowly phase out the current model before they release the new model. Ars also reports that they have no idea how big the impending price cut will actually be, big help there. Great, aside from “our Mole says so”, they have given absolutely no new information about the PS3 pricedrop.
Though they do have a couple bits of info as far as the Xbox 360 goes. As you may be able to derive from my terrible image above, they predict that the Elite 360 will drop in price down to $299. It actually isn’t a price drop, but more that the Elite bundle is going to become the Pro bundle and the current Pro bundles will disappear. They predict that the current Pro systems will be completely deprived by the end of August and that the Elite price will drop down to $299 early in September. They also go on to say that we will see a couple games bundled with the new 120GB Pro unit this holiday season as well.
So there you have it, nothing new to report as far as the PS3 goes, but some pretty specific details on the Xbox 360 price cuts. People have previously mentioned that Microsoft will need to include larger hard drives at a cheaper price for consumers but it sounds like Ars’s mole is pretty confident with the details that he/she has. I guess only time will tell if they are correct.
