Reviews by the Hour: Too Human Part 3: Brutal Edition
After a long and painful week of illness and birthdays, I am still committed to presenting you with Too Human one hour at a time. It’s all because I love you golgotronians. I love you so much that I promise to post much more next week! This week in Too Human, I found myself very much surprised by the change in its entire style. The game went from a sci/fi Norse mythology hybrid to a heavy metal paradise. Also, I applaud the games decision to recast the voice of Baldur with Jack Black. And, I must say that the game’s atmosphere really does look like an album cover.
When playing this hour, I immediately found a way to turn on subtitles, as well as the ability to bleep out expletives– something I found very nice as I was playing the game while my little sister watched. Actually, the option was given to me half a second before the first “fuck” was ever uttered. Never has an options menu been so entertaining.
Oddly enough, it almost felt like I was playing a different game altogether. The serious tones took a back step to the self-aware comedy mostly seen in Tim Schafer’s games. It was like somebody switched discs in my 360 and I didn’t notice. When my hour was playing Too Human this week was over, and after checking my 360′s dashboard, I realized I was very correct. Turns out I played Brutal Legend this hour instead of Too Human.
Oh well, I don’t want to rewrite this article.
