Yeah, they did a full arcade port of the original DD for XBLA. I liked it a lot, because it faithfully recreated the original and let you play with the original versions graphics/music or a "polished" version. Think how they did SSF2THDR, but it was like they didn't spend as much time on it. Wikipedia puts it nicely: "An Xbox Live Arcade version of the Double Dragon for the Xbox 360 was released on May 9, 2007. This version features an emulation of the original arcade game, as well as an optional game mode featuring redrawn high definition graphics and a remixed soundtrack. It also features support for online multiplayer. It was delisted on July 1, 2009 due to the closure of its publisher, Empire Interactive."
My only beef with this game was A. At one point, I actually couldn't play this game anymore, probably due to the "delisting" of the game. and B. Because the version I grew up playing was the NES version, because I didn't get to arcades too much. While the NES did an OK job of creating a fine port of DD for its time, the nostalgia factor wasn't as high for me when playing an XBLA emulated port of the Arcade game I never played.
And yes, in SFIV my main is Claw, and I do LOVE to roll some Claw on people from time to time. I tried to move over to Boxer and then Dee Jay when SSFIV came out, but I ended up moving to Guy who I LOOOOOVE! He's such a beast. But, now we're totally off topic.
I'm not adverse to remakes. My article may make it seem like I might be, but I'm actually in the camp who also loves remakes. I like the idea of a good story being retold or re-done. But, as a movie geek I always hear people pissing and moaning about "oh, gosh are they remaking that already? Can't they come up with good 'new' ideas?" And it's a bit dis-heartening to hear, because people just assume that a remake can't EVER be as good as the first one. In some cases, I think that there have been remakes that have outdone their originals, but people refuse to believe it because of their enchantment with the original film. Take for example, The Dark Knight (not technically a remake, it's a re-boot, I get it, I'm a Batman geek, so please don't argue). A lot of people felt and still feel that Jack's Joker would never be topped and many people "personified" the Joker as Jack Nicholson. I, however, feel that Ledger topped Nicholson in just about every way. But, I also feel that they represented the different era's of the Joker from the comics, and can't really be "compared." But, you won't stop the comparisons... so whatever. And, now you've gotten me on two fan-boy rants today, Jorge.
And, if you push my ass of the 2nd level conveyor belt, I'll counter by strapping you to a chair and forcing you to watch the Double Dragon movie while Justin Wong kicks your ass at SSFIV. I think, for you, that'd be a pretty rough punishment.

There was an XBL/PSN Double Dragon? Because if you are talking bad about the GBA Double Dragon by Million, I will Abobo your ass next time I see you. That game was freaking fantastic.

On the topic of remakes. I am perfectly fine with them, hell I am fine with movie remakes. Nothing stops people from watching the original version of a movie. It seems like people have some sort of idea that a remake somehow hurts the original, when in fact, an bad remake only serves to bring the original more attention, and a good remake just puts a different take on a good story. This happens with ALL forms of story telling. Film is in no way in danger of being overrun by remakes/bad movies/ mock-busters Etc... There is, in every era of film, a chunk of movies that are not as well done as others.

When it comes to games, XBL/PSN/WiiWare all serve a purpose, and that is to simplify the process of playing your old games. Super Tecmo Bowl was great, and granted, playing in person is the ideal way to settle disputes over dominance, but that is hard to set up seeing as if we got together, beating your ass at STB (I suck at STB BTW) would be much less important/relevant than stomping your guts at SSF4(Still questionable seeing as you play Claw and he is my achilles' heel, then again, Subject plays one of the best SF4/SSF4 claws I've seen in some time, so yeah..). So the online play really helps here because a spontaneous game of STB at a UFC gathering is frowned upon while random games of SSF4/ST/Bust a Move/Puzzle Fighter/Real Bout 2/ Wind Jammers(<- this happens a lot at my house, WJ is serious fucking business.) are completely acceptable. So STB remake is totally acceptable in my opinion.

And clear up the Double Dragon comment or I will push your ass off the 2nd level conveyor belt.

Yes, but you can't get the licenses for the NFL/NFLPA with Madden hogging that shit up. And, it wouldn't really improve it that much. I actually like the fake teams, like Blitz did them and Backbreaker is going to do them. The idea of new games where you can create your own football rivalries is pretty dope.
