One of the most successful top scrolling shooter franchises is coming to iOS. According to Cave’s blog, DoDonPachi Resurrection are headed to your favorite Apple portable device this summer. This is quite an accomplishment because the reveal trailer captures the same intensity and runs the same frame rates as the console and arcade versions.

Resurrection will have three gameplay modes: Arcade Mode, iPhone Mode featuring remixed soundtracks and touch-centric weapons, and Practice Mode allowing players to replay through start and end points of their favorite DoDonPachi bullet hell moments.

Considering the lack of on screen directional pad and emphasis on touch rotation and optional tilt control, I’m excited to give this one a shot. Full details will be announced at the Cave Festival 2010 Summer Event August 14 at Akihabara.
