It took me a while to actually find out what kind of game Thorium Wars is… it turns out to be a ‘vehicle shooter‘.  I really can’t name any game quite like it, but it makes me think of what would happen if Serious Sam and Twisted Metal had a baby.  This game looks like it may have some potential.

The story behind Thorium Wars, by Big John Games, is that the Thorium Age has brought nothing but peace, prosperity, and frenzied robots.  You must defend mankind from the Thorions, a “super species of Thorium based machines”.  There are a not-so-wide array of vehicles that you can man in order to protect our future.  Five to be exact.  As you can see in the trailer, the game seems to use tanks and jet-like vehicles primarily.  Most of the vehicles seem like blatant rip-offs of other popular vehicles.  For instance, the Cerberus Tank looks straight out of Halo, and the Manticore is obviously an at-at from Star Wars.

Thorium Wars was originally a European release, set to come out in North America on October 8, 2010 for 800 Nintendo DSi Points.
