Nintendo wants your money!
I almost never become an early adopter of technology, especially technology that even I’ll admit is kind of tacky most of the time. That wasn’t the case with the 3DS – I bought that shit right away. Seems I’m the only one though, because Nintendo of America is announcing a price drop in the 3DS.
Starting on August 12th, the cost of the Nintendo 3DS is going to go from 250 clams to a measly $169 – a pretty big price drop! That’s an $80 difference. But what about those of us that purchased the 3DS early? Isn’t this kind of a punishment for supporting a company when nobody else did? This is where the deal REALLY shines. It seems Nintendo prepared for the potential backlash ahead of time – by giving us free things and calling us fancy names. Flattery will go a mile…
For the 830,000 of us that did purchase the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo of America is starting an Ambassador program in which they’ll give us 20 free downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop, starting September 1st and going onto the end of 2011. In order to opt into the Ambassador program all you have to do is sign onto the Nintendo eShop before 11:59PM on August 11th. The partial list of games to come includes:
• Super Mario Bros.™
• Donkey Kong Jr. ™
• Balloon Fight™
• Ice Climber™
• The Legend of Zelda™
• Yoshi’s Island™: Super Mario™ Advance 3
• Mario Kart™: Super Circuit
• Metroid™ Fusion
• WarioWare™ Inc.: Mega Microgame$
• Mario vs. Donkey Kong™
This is great news for everyone! Now the question is; are some of these games worth the $80 price difference? I say yes, but that’s because I like throwing money at Nintendo. Take my money, you devilish imps you!
