‘Fantastic Pets’ Will Be the First On Kinect to Let You Stroke a Unicorn

THQ and developer Blitz Games Studios have announced every gamer’s dream (disclaimer: ages 6-8 only) of playing next to a creature of their own creation. Players have a choice from four different starting animals – a dog, cat, horse, or lizard – and as they progress can then transform them into fantastical creatures ranging from a frolicking unicorn to a dragon that roasts said unicorn (fantasy creature combat to be released as DLC at a later point in time).

X-Men Arcade to Be Released On a Console Near You

Good news for all (those with good taste, anyway) as Konami Digital Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment announced that they will be releasing X-Men Arcade on XBLA and PSN. Developed by Backbone Entertainment, the game promises to feature the same side-scrolling beat-’em-up action from the 1992 arcade cabinet classic. For those that never had a chance to play it as a child, the game features Cyclops, Colossus, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine as they fight their way through thousands of Sentinels to Island M in order to save Kitty Pryde and Professor Xavier from Magneto.

European Prepaid Paysafecard Launches in the US

European Prepaid Paysafecard Launches in the US

I’ve never been one to worry about my credit card use online unless there’s some obvious tomfoolery going on, in which case I wouldn’t be doing business with the site anyway, but for those that prefer not entering their 16 digits for online games and other services, the leading European prepaid solution, Paysafecard, has launched in the US. 12,000 vendors are already selling the prepaid card in $10, $25, $50, and $100 denominations. The cards are available for use in any online game that supports it, most being free online games like Maple Story, Shot Online, and Nostale, but a few larger MMOs like City of Heroes and Aion are supported as well.

New Time Crisis: Razing Storm Footage: EVERYONE LOVES TIME CRISIS

New Time Crisis: Razing Storm Footage: EVERYONE LOVES TIME CRISIS

Let me start off this article by saying that I am a balls-to-the-fucking-walls-batshit-crazy fan of Time Crisis. I’m not entirely sure what started the obsession – maybe the day-long ventures to arcades in my early years? The feel of the Guncon in my hands as I played the same game at home? The horrific voice acting? All of the above? It’s hard to tell, but the point stands – if I’m in an arcade, I’m playing Time Crisis (or some other equally amazing lightgun title should a station not be available).

Killzone 3 Public Beta Announced with a Catch

Killzone 3 Public Beta Announced with a Catch

Interested in being one of only 10,000 people selected to test out Killzone 3‘s new online features like the party system, access to the jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles, or the game’s “Operations” mode? You’re in luck! Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that the public beta for their new, “Halo-killing” PS3 FPS would begin October 25th for a lucky 10,000 fans – the catch? You need to purchase access to Sony’s PlayStation Plus membership (or be a pre-existing member), which is only offered in 3 month or 12 month installments. Now, you may ask, “But Andrew, what if I purchase a PlayStation Plus membership and miss out on the beta?” The unfortunate answer to that question is, “Now you’re stuck with a mediocre service that promised a lot and failed to fully deliver.” On the bright side, you do get a free copy of Wipeout HD for becoming a member, which is amazing (and FYI, this is coming from someone who bought a full year’s worth of the service).
