Insert Coins Sets the Bar in Las Vegas

Insert Coins Sets the Bar in Las Vegas

When someone mentions gaming in Las Vegas, the first thing that comes to mind is the poker table or slot machines. When I heard that a couple from New Jersey opened up a video game themed night club, I was geared up to check it out. This isn’t just some bar with video poker and sports playing on a wall of TVs. No, my friends, this is a full-on arcade with top name games on every system you could ever want. This is Insert Coins, owned and operated by Christopher LaPorte – a great guy with a great vision.

Review – Rift

Review – Rift

I picked up a copy of Rift last week to determine whether or not it can stand alongside the Everlasting Gobstopper that is World of Warcraft. Of course either game is just filler in preparation for Star Wars: The Old Republic, but does Rift go beyond good marketing and deliver as a strong competitor for WoW? Will it make you retire your level 85 dwarf paladin for a shot at an elevated plot line? Let’s find out.

BOMT: Uncharted – Veni Vidi Vici!

BOMT: Uncharted – Veni Vidi Vici!

Welcome to part two in the saga I call The Box of Many Things. This time I chose to play the Uncharted series. Let me start off by saying that canceling Firefly was criminal and Nathan Fillion is the only man suited to play lead character, Nate, but I digress. That said, the Uncharted series has easily some of the greatest gameplay I have seen. Naughty Dog has a history making some memorable games, but they really pulled out the stops with this one. Incredible graphics, beautiful scenery, and heart pounding action flow from Uncharted from beginning to end. These games are flawless in my opinion, but let’s break them down and exam this piece by piece.

BOMT: God of War – My Vengeance Is Complete At Last!

BOMT: God of War – My Vengeance Is Complete At Last!

This will be the first article that dives into my journey through what I have deemed, “The Box of Many Things“. Let me set the scene. My good friend, Zach Noble of Commerce, MI, sent me a big box of games, none of which I had ever have touched before. I quickly realized that my neglect had been criminal seeing as these games were AWESOME! First out of the Box of Many Things are the games of the God of War series.

Golgo-TRON Preview-Review-ish-thing

Golgo-TRON Preview-Review-ish-thing

The rumors are true, that is if you heard that the Tron movie based game “Tron: Evolutions” is just like any other movie based game. I only decided to review it because after playing, i have to give some credit where credit is due. The game already has two heavy weights leaning down on it. First, it is a Disney licensed game and, if you had a childhood, you know that even though it is mainly directed toward a younger crowd it’s hard as balls to get the hang of. Second, it is a movie based game but interestingly enough you aren’t just going through the motions of what you saw on the big screen, you actually get to play the prequel to the movie and bridge the 80′s Tron with Tron Legacy. By taking that path and opening up the opportunity for a unique plot line, the game kinda nose dived. They used iconic characters from the movie as well as direct scenes, anything extra just seemed like a visualized version of something Jeff Bridges mentioned in the movie, only paraphrased.

Not Now MAH! I’m Playing Eternal Legacy!!!

Not Now MAH! I’m Playing Eternal Legacy!!!

In a recent poll, more kids want an iPad than a Nintendo DSi. In the world of portable gaming, Nintendo is dominating, the PSP is on life support, and the iPad is the new big player. It might as well be a touch screen laptop with no keyboard that you can pwn bitches in Counter Strike with, in style. Whether or not you have the iPhone/Pad or a Droid, app stores are carrying bigger and better games. One of the newest games for iPhone/iPad, Eternal Legacy, comes from the GameLoft studio.

Medal Of Honor: Tali-Banned

Medal Of Honor: Tali-Banned

The AAFES (Army & Armed Forces Exchange Services) serves as a consumer distributor on base to service those enlisted. These “Exchange Shops” offer quality merchandise ranging from MP3 players and video games, to food and clothing. In the Armed Forces, it has become an ironic trend that soldiers buy out these stores of their army-related games. The Modern Warfare, Call of Duty, and Medal of Honor series have always been available without any argument from senior officers or AAFES attendees. With the upcoming release of the highly anticipated Medal of Honor and Call of Duty: Black Ops games, a bees nest has been stirred, causing a ban on both games from being sold.
