Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona Fighting Game Looks Better Than I Dreamed!!!!

Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona Fighting Game Looks Better Than I Dreamed!!!!

Earlier today I posted about the Persona Fighting Game coming next summer, well the fine people over at NeoGaf got their hands on some of the screenshots from the upcoming Famitsu article… and let me just say, if it was possible to play this game now… and all I had to do was murder your family to do so… *knife sharpening sounds*. Regardless, after thoroughly examining the screens I have to agree with Mr. Hawkins’ assessment that the persona’s will play similar to the “Stands” in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure… I included the youtube video with the images after the jump to help clarify. If you would have told me this morning that I’d be more excited for a game than I am for Persona 5, I’d have cart-wheel-kicked you on principle! But after seeing these… I think I have a new “Number One” on my list of Most Wanted Games!

Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona 5… and the end of my social life.

Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona 5… and the end of my social life.

If you’ve read my previous posts in the Atlusenomenon 2011 series, or you’ve met me, or ever have  heard me speak a single sentence allowed, then you’re probably accutely aware of my obsession with the Persona series. Now, I’ve know that the fifth game in the series had been in development since about a year ago, but ever since then Katsura Hashino, Director of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 and the man in charge of the series had been sitting on his hands with any other announcements. It was also during this time that Atlus started to heavily promote Catherine, which lead me to believe that my beloved Persona was might have been pushed to the wayside in favor of a more marketable series.

Luckily, I was wrong, and when my main man Katsura recently spoke to Famitsu he stated that preliminary development for Persona 5 is coming to a close. Awwwwwweeeee…. LOVE BUBBLES!!!! He also went on to state, that while Team Persona utilized a third party engine for Catherine, they developed a new internal engine for 5. According to Hashino, this would allow them to work at a streamlined pace, though that’s not to say the game will be out anytime soon. In fact, Hashino goes on to state the game won’t see the light of day for some time yet… I’m just happy its coming Kats… take your sweet time, and I’ll start making the necessary arrangements (quitting my job, severing all relationships, and stock piling soup) in preparation for its fated arrival. Go with God Team Persona, go with God… Unless you’re all Athesist, in which case, just eat a sandwich. You’re probably going to need your strength.

Atlusenomenon 2011 – A wild Persona 4 FIGHTING GAME Appears!!!!!!

Atlusenomenon 2011 – A wild Persona 4 FIGHTING GAME Appears!!!!!!

Next up in the list of games designed to make me single (yes, I lost two or more girlfriends due to Persona 3 and 4… no, I don’t regret it), Atlus has announced that next spring it will be releasing Persona 4 The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena! A 2D fighter developed in a joint venture alongside BlazBlue developers Arc Systems Works. So, let’s just take a step back and analyze what I just wrote out there… IT’S A PERSONA FIGHTING GAME! ARE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!! I DON’T EVEN CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE ANYMORE!!!! ATLUS WANTS ME TO BE FOREVER ALONE THIS IS PROOF!

Ok.. calming down… I’m going to try to stop yelling and explaining how insanely excited I am… it’s cheapening this moment. The game will feature a roster both from Persona 3 and 4, and is tentatively slated for Xbox 360 and PS3 in the Summer 2012.

Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona 4: The Golden Announced for the Vita!!!! (Now with Screen caps!)

Atlusenomenon 2011 – Persona 4: The Golden Announced for the Vita!!!! (Now with Screen caps!)

With all the Atlus news coming out in the last few hours I could have easily lumped all the announcements into one article, but frankly, where’s the fun in that. Instead, I’m going to treat this like Atlus just held their own convention exclusively for me, and my now ten foot erection, called Atlusenomenon 2011!!!

First up, the fine team over there ensures that not only I will in fact be purchasing a new PS Vita, something I strongly was opposed to, but also that I will do it glady thanks to a special rerelease of Persona 4 subtitled, “The Golden“.

Rockstar Desperately Wants Us To Remember That Max Payne 3 Is Still A Game!

Rockstar Desperately Wants Us To Remember That Max Payne 3 Is Still A Game!

So in an effort to remind us that the Max Payne 3 Hype Train is still going, Rockstar Vancouver released two new screenshots a few minutes ago. I wish there was more to report, as this game seems to have been lost in development hell after failing to show up at the last few E3′s, but it doesn’t look like we’re getting much. Enjoy the shots, and I guess just keep holding your breath for MP3 to release this side of 2020. Pics after the jump…

Here we go! Borderlands 2 Announced!

Here we go! Borderlands 2 Announced!

In a relatively unsurprising move, publisher Take-Two has confirmed the development of Borderlands 2 for PS3, Xbox, and PC today. Tentatively, the games looks at launching sometime next Summer during Take-Two’s new fiscal year.

So far details are few and far between, but we can confirm that the game will again indeed take place in Pandora, the setting of the first game. Many other details are sure to follow when the game is shown at both Gamescom and Pax Prime this August. After the jump is the first image from the upcoming September issue of Game Informer.

Who’s Mike Ross? The Eternal Question Finally Answered!

Who’s Mike Ross? The Eternal Question Finally Answered!

Kudos to G4tv for doing something cool for once, by opening up their new project, G4 Films, with the new Mike Ross-based documentary FOCUS. The film, directed by Steve Hwang, chronologize the journey of Ross over the course of the year on his way to EVO 2010. I’ve been hyped for this for a while,  and being the uber fighting game geek that I am, I got up early to watch it before heading to work. Now while I don’t think it hits hard like Bang the Machine, it still provides an interesting look into our boy Ross’ life, and definitively answers that nagging question (see title).

You can find the stream at the link below, but I will say that if you’re going to stream it at work, be wary it does have a lot of NSFW language. With EVO a mere two days away I now feel successfully hyped, and can’t wait to get to Vegas to see how it all goes down. The only down side to the whole doc is that you have to suffer through  some of Adam Sessler’s commentary from last year’s top 8…  and a year hasn’t made it any better.
