New Dead Space is Going To Be Less Scary? (How Dare They!)

New Dead Space is Going To Be Less Scary? (How Dare They!)

I’m pretty late on this, but I’m just now in the midst of playing Dead Space and it is fucking scary! There have literally been times when I was playing that I had to put the controller down and take a breather. Maybe I’m a wimp, but I don’t think so (I only screamed out loud three times during Paranormal Activity). For a while though, it seemed like the horror genre in video games was going nowhere. I’d get the cheap thrills and it would scare me for a little bit, but in the end there was always someway that I could be a bad-ass and fight my way out of the situation. This is not necessarily the case for Dead Space.

Why NFL Blitz Needs To Be On Xbox Live Arcade

Why NFL Blitz Needs To Be On Xbox Live Arcade

Why does NFL Blitz need to be on Xbox Live Arcade? Because I’ll cry. That would be my biggest argument if this wasn’t going to be published online. I’ve had this discussion with my friends countless times over XBL while one of them is getting drunk and the other is going “NYAYYY,” but they understand… I think. Let me start this off by telling you how much I love Midway‘s NFL Blitz. They told me not to write this, but, God damn it, I’m going to anyway because it’s the truth… I fucking love this game. It is the best game ever. PERIOD. I guess I should really start by explaining to the people who don’t know what NFL Blitz is (shame), what it’s all about. Blitz is what people hope to see while they watch football. In this game, you can late hit, pass intercept, show boat, excessively celebrate (fat players can dance again!), and people’s balls can catch on fire. These are the reasons so many people love this game, but also the reasons so many people don’t like this game at all. Anyway, as I’ve learned in my English class, start with your biggest and best argument. So, let’s begin.

Do What You Normally Do On Halloween, But Virtually in “Bone Headed”

Do What You Normally Do On Halloween, But Virtually in “Bone Headed”

Halloween is my favorite holiday, aside from National Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I don’t need some guy reminding me how lame this holiday really is. On Halloween it is perfectly okay to be a beggar, it’s okay to dress like a slut and it’s okay to eat as much candy as you want (Wilford Brimely would be ashamed yet again), and I am okay with that. Released on the App Store for iPhones and iPads is Bone Headed by Clockwork Shark Studios and it lets us celebrate Halloween like we usually do, but virtually!

Freelance Games Finally Releases Starchon to Xbox Live Arcade

Freelance Games Finally Releases Starchon to Xbox Live Arcade

After being in development for over a year, Starchon has finally been released to Xbox Live Arcade. This marks the first independent game release for the Xbox 360 from Freelance Games. It was hard to find out what exactly the game was about, but I think I got the gist of it. You must destroy the Pigia (which I’m assuming is a race of alien bastards) because they are also trying to destroy you and take out your Super Defense Carrier a.k.a. bad-ass, giant-ass spaceship. Sounds simple and cool because I’m easily amused. Using your Star Map, you go traverse the galaxy to eliminate the Pigia. Starchon includes 5 game-altering, playable ships and the ability to customize them with over 39 components (what an oddly specific number), such as power generators, weapons, shields and engines, so that you can build the best Pigia-raping ship ever.

Defend Yourself Against Big Black Balls in Storm

Defend Yourself Against Big Black Balls in Storm

There’s a storm a comin’ in upcoming title Storm by Social Loner Studios.  Known for their trivia games such as What The?! and other titles I’ve never heard of, SLS decided to stray away from that genre and make a 2D action game. In Storm, you must defend your base from an onslaught of meteors. It’s like Firefight in Halo, but with big… black… balls. You can upgrade your base with power-ups, shields for extra protection, and Power Shots, which make every shot much stronger. The game also offers 4-player co-op, so you and your friends can defend your bases and protect what’s yours.

Prize For Most Bland Name Goes To: A Shooter

Prize For Most Bland Name Goes To: A Shooter

Sorcery Games is releasing “A Shooter” for Xbox Live Indie Games, and while the name sounds very uninteresting, the game looks quite the opposite.  In A Shooter, you pilot a ship and your goal is to shoot other ships, gain power-ups, and get major points for it.  If you are not amazed by that, there is something wrong with you.  The game looks intense.  It looks like a cross-between Galaga and Geometry Wars.  One thing that’s most appealing about the game is that it offers unlimited retries.  I can’t tell you how many times I’d get the double-ship on my last life in Galaga and then some douchebag would fly into me and ruin it just when I started to feel awesome.  Great, now I have to start the whole game over again.  Continue?  Hell no.  No more wasted quarters on you, Galaga.  But with the unlimited retries in A Shooter, this will be a chance for gamers to try again without feeling like such a failure.  Continue? Hell yes.  Also, when you get a power-up in the game it is PERMANENT.  I would have never lost my double-ship!  Galaga, you suck.
