Apparently MSN is a huge deal ‘across the pond‘, or as we Americans like to say ‘who fucking cares?’ MSN is UK’s number one news, lifestyle and entertainment portal. It’s so widely used that Microsoft has decided to integrate it directly into the Inside Xbox portion of Xbox Live.

Now that you’ve been filled in, we can proceed. Currently the game is in ‘Early Access to Open Beta’, and you can play by invite only. HOWEVER, the beta opens to all on October 13th! That’s right, no more begging on street corners for your beta-key, you can hop right on in less than 2 weeks! I’ve been one of the few people I know fortunate enough to get an Early Access to Open Beta key and have had the joys of playing Vindictus. Everything you’ve heard about this game (on the podcast) is right.
It took me a while to actually find out what kind of game Thorium Wars is… it turns out to be a ‘vehicle shooter‘. I really can’t name any game quite like it, but it makes me think of what would happen if Serious Sam and Twisted Metal had a baby. This game looks like it may have some potential.

I think it’s fair to say that every one has now heard about Scott Pilgrim VS the World in one medium or another. It’s gone from indie/hipster comic to indie/hipster beat ‘em up video game, and finally to not-so-indie/hipster movie. I know that my interest in the franchise didn’t really come ’round until the trailers for the movie came out, and the same goes for most people I know (see the Golgotron staff page). I still haven’t read the comics and probably never will, mainly because I can’t read, but I loved the game and the movie. Since this site’s primarily about video games, that’s where I’ll set my focus…

Have you ever tried to download a ROM, or perhaps a video from a website, and been forced to click on multiple advertiser’s sponsored links in order to ‘unlock’ the download? It hasn’t happened to me since upgrading to torrents years ago, but I used to get that all the time. It seems that the geniuses who thought that up have gotten even more clever. There’s a new thing called the GamerBar, released by GameCoins.com, the virtual goods marketplace launched by Sometrics. It’s an add-on for your browser in order to make GameCoins.com easier and more ‘fun’. Here’s what the CEO and co-founder of Sometrics, Ian Swanson, has to say about it, after the jump:

So, I’ve gotta start this out by saying I wasn’t a fan of what little I played of the first Dead Rising game. Now, I think it’s necessary that I tell you that I only played the demo… However, Rich and/or Alon recently enlightened me to the fact that I was doing it wrong. Apparently, the primary objective of the game is to think of unique and fun ways to kill zombies. Second to that is the storyline. After having been given this little gem of knowledge, I downloaded Dead Rising 2: Case 0. In case you don’t know, it’s a prequel to the soon-to-be-released Dead Rising 2. After playing that through (three times now), I’ve decided that I quite like this game… so far.

I don’t know about everyone else, but every time I hear about an “Avatar” game on XBLA, it makes me think of super-tall blue furries, or bald children who can manipulate the elements. So, you can imagine what I was thinking when I heard about Avatar Puzzle Pop, developed by the cleverly titled, one-man “studioette”, A GAME BY Andrew Wilson.
