A Fling with the Fling

A Fling with the Fling

FiZi and I got to play with Ten One Design’s Fling at CES 2011 for a bit. Ten One Design is also known for their styli for iPhone and iPad that trigger touches on capacitive touchscreens without having to use your fingers. They have converted this technology into a joystick interface called the Fling that attaches to the iPad’s screen with two small suction cups.

Razer Switchblade: PC Gaming Goes Mobile

Razer Switchblade: PC Gaming Goes Mobile

The Razer Switchblade is branded as a portable gaming device. From the ad campaign so far, the Switchblade aims to provide a platform to move PC gaming to the portable market, but our Razer rep constantly reminded us that absolutely nothing about this device is final. Although there is no ETA or MSRP from Razer yet, we were also reminded by reps that they would not have made a device prototype to show at CES if they were not planning on “coming up with an actual product very soon.”

The Switchblade at CES featured two different displays: a 7” multi-touch LCD on top and a game-dependent display on the bottom with a keyboard on top. Top display looked pretty good through the glass prison that kept our mitts off of it – most likely netbook resolution. The bottom display features an adaptive tactile keyboard that will change its layout and appearance dynamically with your gaming experience. The reps told us the keyboard would have lots of prebuilt profiles for popular games, but that the keyboard layout is also designed to be programmable and customizable.

Square to bring Chrono Trigger to the iPhone

Square to bring Chrono Trigger to the iPhone

Square Enix must has finally realized that the only way its going to publish a good RPG is to just re-release their old ones. Fresh off the recent release of Secret of Mana for the iPhone, today Square has launched a teaser site for a forthcoming mobile version of Chrono Trigger. This will mark 26th time they’ve tried to squeeze blood from this stone, and as money-grubbing as it sounds let’s face it we’re all still going to buy it.

The targeted release appears to be in Spring 2011, but you can go enjoy Secret of Mana right now for the low cost of 8.99 on your Apple paraphernalia. Personally, I’m going to enjoy both games right now on my emulator for the low cost of Free-99.

EA sells all iPhone games for $.99! May have lost their mind.

I think the title is pretty self explanitory, but in case you’re just that dense, EA has gone bat shit crazy and lowered all their app prices to a buck. Right now you can go pick up games like: Mirror’s Edge, Need for Speed Shift, Resident Evil 4, and Tetris, all for a buck! Merry Christmas to me… Internet News Troll!

PlayStation loves Europes, gives App.

PlayStation loves Europes, gives App.

PlayStation Euro, or whatever, has finally joined the smart phone era and decided that it was time announce its very own app. Makes some sense, especially if Sony is still planning on going through with its release of the “PlayStation Phone” sometime next year. I guess its kinda cool, you know, if you’re all that into Sony… or live overseas. This from PlayStation.blog:
