CES 2012: Hands on with Microsoft’s Flight

CES 2012: Hands on with Microsoft’s Flight

It’s been quite a while since Microsoft gave us a new Flight Simulator game.  Those original titles were famous as the most realistic flying experience you could have without dropping by an airfield.  As legend goes, many real-life pilots used the games as “at-home practice.” Microsoft’s new free-to-play title, Flight, is the next step for the series.  It’s trying to find the common ground between hardcore sim-freaks and the casual enthusiast.

What exactly is a Revengeance? I know the definition of Vengeance:

venge·ance/?venj?ns/

Noun: Punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.

Let’s see how adding ‘Re’ in front of it changes the meaning.

Gear Review – Eagle Eye Converter 3.0 for Xbox 360

Gear Review – Eagle Eye Converter 3.0 for Xbox 360

I used to love PC gaming.  Unreal Tournament ’99? Counter-Strike?  Those were my jams, son. For years, I’d raged about how console controllers could never replicate the precision needed for PC shooters.  Then I traded my PC for a Mac and joined all my “regular people” friends on Xbox Live.

Nowadays, I’m much happier in my gated community. Still, part of me yearns for the lightning-quick madness of mouse-and-keyboard controls. I just want to spin on a dime and put a single sniper round through some fool’s eyeball one last time.

That’s where Penguin United’s Eagle Eye Converter 3.0 comes in. Basically, this device claims to let console players hook up their mouse and keyboards to their Xbox 360.

Sounds great in theory, but does it actually work?

E3 2011 – Forza Motorsport 4

E3 2011 – Forza Motorsport 4

There were only 2 games at E3 this year that I played on 2 different days. The first was at the Nintendo booth to see if they cleaned up The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword from last year. The second was at the Microsoft booth for Forza Motorsports 4 and I am really glad that I came back to check this game out a second time. Continuing our month of E3 coverage, let’s take a look inside.

E3 2011 – Lexis-Numerique

E3 2011 – Lexis-Numerique

Look, I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t the most familiar with Lexis-Numerique when we staggered into their booth this year at E3. In fact, if I had to guess, I would have assumed they were an accessory or peripheral manufacturer or maybe a hair salon. Either way, I went in with modest expectations and came away quite interested in the two projects they demoed for us: Amy, and Red Johnson’s Chronicles.

Sonic Generations Demo – Another Disappointment Approaches

Sonic Generations Demo – Another Disappointment Approaches

SEGA has a beautiful way of announcing a new Sonic game just about every year and claiming that the newest title is going to be THE Sonic game that fans have been hoping for. And with each release, SEGA beautifully disappoints almost everybody. To their credit Sonic Unleashed, Sonic 4, and Sonic Colors all received marginally increasing review scores compared to the 2006 “Sonic the Hedgehog”. It is now time for Sonic Generations to step up to the plate.
