It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the Zynga Game Network may be rethinking their decision to plaster the streets of San Francisco with promotional items after receiving threat of a lawsuit from city attorney Dennis Herrera.  The guerrilla marketing campaign was meant to garner more interest (and offer the chance to win real cash totaling $25,000) toward the latest version of their popular Facebook title, Mafia Wars, by gluing dozens of fake $25,000 bills to the ground in five separate Hayes Valley locations.

Nintendo at Penny Arcade Expo

Nintendo opened its doors to the gaming press at E3 in Los Angeles back in June.  Starting September 3rd, consumers will get their first chance to play the upcoming Fall lineup at PAX in Seattle.  Just like at E3, The Penny Arcade Expo will feature playable versions of Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Metroid: Other M, 007 Goldeneye, and NBA Jam.

Portal 2 Takes The Cake

Valve is wrapping up Portal 2 and leaving more than scraps on the cutting room floor.  The footage from E3 showed the return of GLaDOS and the rebuilding process of the Aperture Science testing facility.  What we know for sure is that the campaign will be much longer, you will have a helpful companion to talk to, and the cake is still a lie.  Valve writers Erik Wolpaw and Chet Faliszek told the team from 1UP, during their cross country tour, that there will be a multiplayer mode, but only co-operative game play.  They originally tested out a competitive multiplayer mode in which one player would attempt to solve a puzzle while the opponent tries to stop them by any portal possible.  Erik Wolpaw said that it started out fun, engaging a lot of the fun aspects of portal, but after a few seconds it became utter chaos and was scraped for impracticality.
