Catherine is apparently really, really HARD!

Japan is a crazy place. I’ve only spent a modicum of time there, and I would have stayed longer but the government isn’t exactly flexible on the time of your deportation, but in that time I picked up on a few things about the culture. These are a people of discipline, integrity, hentaicles, and who downright love the idea of overcoming difficult situations. This mentality often translates over unto their gaming ideals, which is why they love grinding and ridiculous learning curves. So, I have to say it came as a shock to me when I read that most Japanese gamers have been complaining about the difficulty of Atlus‘ action-puzzle-dating-sim-love-bubble-inducing Catherine.

I Will Eat Lucent Heart With A Spoon!

If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I’m a sucker for a solid dating sim. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve logged on NewGrounds, grinding out XP to pick up some virtual girl whom I’m inevitably going to leave twenty minutes later when the option to court a new chica opens up. Unfortunately, my mild obsession seems to have late broken the glass wall and carried over to real life. As my dad constantly reminds me, my life is like an episode of Seinfeld, “the girl always leaves before the end of the episode.”

Now, I tend to prefer my dating sims to end with a collection of pixel based orgy sequences, but I’m willing to trade that for some good ol’ fashion dungeon crawlin’. With my golden games Persona 3 and 4 already mastered to a scary degree (nearly 120 hours logged into each) and my beloved Catherine still months away from a localization, there’s room in day for a fix. That fix may be Lucent Heart!
