Fire in the Hole: Multiplatform Counter-Strike in 2012
Today, Valve confirmed rumors that there is a new Counter-Strike title coming in early 2012. Valve is developing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive along with Hidden Path Entertainment, the team behind Counter-Strike: Source. The game is planned for PS3, Xbox 360 and Steam (both PC and Mac).
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will feature brand new maps, weapons and game modes. Valve also claimed there would be updated content from earlier versions of the game. There haven’t been any screenshots released yet, but judging from Valve’s language in the press release, CS:GO is sounding like a major update to Source instead of a full sequel.
Philistines on the Internet are already making claims of “Oh great, more de_dust?” and “Are they just going to update de_dust again?” To those people, I say: “If Valve graces us with the ability to play a prettier version of de_dust for another decade, you will take it and you will shut your mouth.”
Stick together team.
