Review – Mortal Kombat

Review – Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat has returned in a big way. This ninth core title is a surprisingly robust package that completely lives up to the franchise’s once-great legacy. The game completely reinvigorates the series, harkening back to the easy-to-pick-up style of the arcade originals, while still packing in a wide array of modern fighting conventions to keep things fresh.

Golgocast S02E20 – Sony is F#$%@*!

Golgocast S02E20 – Sony is F#$%@*!

Grips of sinus medication and large quantities of alcohol do not mix well with the duties of a podcast host… However, despite my controlled substance handicap I manage to form some complete sentences and the rest of the team picks up the slack this week for another glorious addition to the show. As the titles indicates, there’s a lot of discussion on “The Sony Situation” and Scott and Jorge go krazy over Mortal Kombat. We miss out on the chance at some Portal 2 discussion, but that’s all well and good, because we’ve got a solution to that coming this week! More on that later, but in the meantime enjoy Golgocast Season 2 Episode 20!!!!

Mortal Kombat Webisodes – Coming to Internet Near You

Mortal Kombat Webisodes – Coming to Internet Near You

Remember that ridiculous Mortal Kombat trailer that came out last summer? At the time, no one really had any idea what it was. Rumors started coming out that it was an independent short film shot to show Warner Bros. what a revamped version of Mortal Kombat could be. Well their plan worked… sort of. Director of the short, Kevin Tancharoen, has been green lit for a 10-part internet series based off the trailer.

New Scorpion Trailer for Mortal Kombat “Gets Over Here”

A new gameplay trailer for the completely revamped upcoming Mortal Kombat game was released this week, and features an old favorite.  That’s right, ever-dead Ninja from Hell Scorpion debuts a slightly redesigned costumed, but his moves look to be same as always (which is a very good thing, in my opinion).  Alright, I’m done yapping.  Take a look at the trailer for yourselves and then you can contemplate, just as I did, throwing the original Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 into your Netflix queue just to see that great fight scene between Mr. Johnny Cage and Scorpion again.  Then I give you permission to fast-forward to the fight scene between Johnny Cage and Goro if you ‘re looking for a good chuckle.

Fatalities in High Definition! – The Mortal Kombat HD Kollection

Fatalities in High Definition! – The Mortal Kombat HD Kollection

Remaking old video games with updated, super crisp, stellar looking graphics has been an ongoing trend for a while now.  Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix (SSF2THR) showed us all how cool a high def remake of a classic fighting game could be.  But some of us yearned for a little more.  Some of us wanted to see what someone’s head and spinal cord being ripped out looked like in 1080p on a 47″ LCD TV.  Well folks, that time is almost upon us with the Mortal Kombat HD Kollection! MORTAL KOMBAT! That Is To Say, A New Game…

“Uhh, hay guys… it’s time for a reboot…”

Dark clouds foreshadow rain.  Similarly, the new Mortal Kombat live action video that made its way onto the web seemed to foreshadow a coming storm of new media for the almost-forgotten franchise.  Timing couldn’t have been better, in all honesty.  Just around the corner is E3, the place where video games can be reborn (or at least, given a second chance).  E3 is where many fans are expecting to see something new from the Mortal Kombat franchise, having just been acquired by a new developer.  It’s been a little less than a year since Midway went bankrupt and Mortal Kombat went to WB Games (now, NetherRealm).
