GolgoCast S02E14 – “But it’s for CHARITYYYYYYYYY…”

I’m going to chalk it up to St. Patty’s Day and the universe telling me that I needed to be out drunk and singing Flogging Molly instead of podcasting, as to why we had so many problems. Returning, aside from the cast, is the stupid Skype beeping… I’m quite over this as I’m sure you are! Chat is now banned from our shows since I can’t seem to get everyone to disable sounds… le sigh.

Regardless, it’s a solid episode and we barely talk at all about fighting games. I know, right! A RARITY!!! In it’s place we debate about Jason Rohrer’s Chain World, Sony‘s strategies, and net neutrality! Sorry again about the audio in spots, we’ll fix it next week.

Review – Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I was never an arcade rat. I played consoles. I didn’t cut my teeth in the trial by humiliation setting of a GameWorks or the various mall food courts across America. I’m sure Dr. Garcia and Lord Hawkins can recount with scary accuracy those epiphanal moments of “footsie” clarity earned through countless quarters and callused fingers at the threshold of a wooden box. They, like many other ,  later would  find sanctuary amongst each other at forums like Shoryuken.com to hone their craft with a feudal Japan level of discipline. They may take a lot of flack for being one-trick ponies of sorts but you can’t really argue that how impressive that is. Now, I’m sure there’s an asshole or two that might think they’d like to give it a try, claiming that there’s no real art to it and on any given day a button-masher can take down a champ. To that I’d like to invite you to investigate “Option-selects“… afterward, promptly fuck yourself.

Haggar and Phoenix confirmed for MvC3!

Yeah, I know, everyone knew this was happening but it’s still freggin’ cool! Final Fight’s Haggar and Marvel’s Phoenix (still prefer her dark side) have officially been announced as playable characters in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. These new additions bring the roster count up to 34, and God and hopefully Seth Killian-willing there will be at least 2 more… I still need my Jin back.

With the game launching on February 15th, there’s not much longer that we’ll all have to wait but for right now, these videos should hold you over. Phoenix after the jump…

Golgocast S02E01!!! – Gootecks/Ross vs. Jacobs/Garcia/Hawkins/Belisle

We’re back kiddos! As a lengthy post-E3-mortem, team Golgo took a well deserved break to regroup, change the guard, update the site, and get back into it!  Now, we never intended for the break to be as long as it was, but things have been crazy…  (Ir)Regardless, we got together this past Thursday to chat it up with our new friends Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez and Mike Ross about all things Street Fighter!  It’s pretty topic-specific, though we do branch off into some other fighting game topics.  All and all, I think it turned out great!  Have a listen and we’ll be back with another installment of GolgoCast next week…  Hell, I may even look up what number we’re actually on!

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Updated!

After a period of whispering on various fighting game/video game forums, Capcom has finally released the long awaited announcement trailer for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.  Rumored to have been in the works for quite some time now, the trailer shows some cool cell-shaded Tatsunoko VS Capcom style cut-scenes with returning characters like Ryu, Hulk, Iron Man, Morrigan and some new stuff…  Mainly Chris Redfield(!).  As more is announced, I hope to see some more awesome Capcom and Marvel characters and ideally, this time around, the Capcom characters will be able to hang at high level play…
