Review – SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Mouse

Review – SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Mouse

A mouse is a mouse is a mouse. They are all basically the same other than the physical shape and the number of buttons they have. It is just a basic piece of hardware that we all use in our day to day lives. I agree with my fellow Golgotron writer Mr. Pharisee’s assessment that a standard mouse “…serves all my functions, gaming and non-gaming alike, just fine”. Also, like Mr. Pharisee, I found out how wrong I was when I wrapped my right hand around the SteelSeries Diablo III mouse. A simple mouse, for a simple (to control) game, the SteelSeries Diablo III mouse will show you what you have been missing with the standard mouse that has been included with every PC you have ever bought.

Review – Steel Series Sensei Mouse

Review – Steel Series Sensei Mouse

Up until a week ago I was content with living my life with tiny little netbook mice. “I won’t need another mouse,” I told myself. “This mouse serves all my functions, gaming and non-gaming alike, just fine.” What an ignorant creature I once was. Once I got my hands on the SteelSeries Sensei Mouse my entire outlook changed. Now I can’t think of doing anything on my PC without this mouse by my side.

Review – SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB Headset

Review – SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB Headset

I have never considered myself to be much of an audiophile (well at least since I turned 19 and finally grew out of car audio equipment). I have never owned a set of floor speakers or receiver for my house as I always said that it was a waste of money. I mean, every TV has a set of speakers right? How much can you really be missing by not having a decent home theater setup? Oh how far from the truth was I. And all it took was a set of headphones from SteelSeries to prove me wrong.

Steelseries Spectrum 5XB Headset Review

Steelseries Spectrum 5XB Headset Review

I have been using this headset for about five months now. At first I was totally blown away at the total awesomeness of the headset as I had never had a pair of headphones that cost more that $20. Once the initial shock of pure audio bliss wore off I started to see the few faults this headset has. The faults don’t lie in the headset itself, but with the Xbox 360 adapter that comes with it.

I absolutely love the headphones themselves. They have super soft ear pads that are able to gently mold around a pair of eyeglasses, which I do wear. The headset is also very lightweight and I barely notice it is on my head. I also enjoy the fact that the ear pads are cloth as it is softer on the skin around my ears and don’t cause sweating as a pleather material often does. All of these things add up to be an all around very comfortable set of headphones.

Review – Siberia Neckband Headset for iDevices

Review – Siberia Neckband Headset for iDevices

In 2007, I was but a young lad of 23. I was fresh from college, probably still drunk, and wandering the back room of the Chandler, AZ, Buckle wondering if my life could get any worse.  My job consisted of sorting through boxes of over-priced shirts that I would later sell to the collection of roid-raging closet-cases who spent the majority of their time and mine in front of our mirrors, always asking for a smaller size and wanting a dude’s opinion on whether a shirt made them look “big” or not. There aren’t narcotics strong enough to help anyone rise above that circle of hell.

For SteelSeries, 2007 was far more productive. That year they released an arsenal of high-tech gadgetry that has tantalized and drained the piggy banks of geeks and nerds alike. One such product was the hugely popular SteelSeries Siberia Neckband Headset, featuring a unique design wrapping around the base of the skull rather than over the top. Considering that many DJs, pro gamers, and audiophiles, were already rocking their headphones down around their neck, it was a smart move for SteelSeries to create such an offering for the rest of us. The neckband was a success for SteelSeries, and here I am three years later reviewing a hip, glossy gift of their attractive tech for the iCrazed masses.

SteelSeries Turns 10! Wants to give you buckets of stuff!

SteelSeries Turns 10! Wants to give you buckets of stuff!

It’s no secret that the Golgotron Staff has a certain predilection for SteelSeries. They make silly-awesome products that don’t break, and support unique features that one can only truly appreciate if they’ve spent a lifetime in front of a monitor. (Not to mention they throw a bomb-ass party!) Well, this week marks the 10 year anniversary of the little Danish company that could and they want to celebrate in style by giving away a ton of free gear!

Just pop on over to their website and you’ll get to choose from their line up of mice, keyboards, headsets, and mats, to build a package any gamer would kill for. Then you just need to share the info with  a few of those friends on Facebook, or via email, and THAT’S ALL YOU’Z GOTZ TO DO! There’s no cap on entries, so go nuts, and SteelSeries will randomly choose the top 10,000 entries.  One grand prize winner will also be chosen to recieve a hardcore gaming laptop that will no doubt help you crush the likes of Belisle!  I don’t want this to sound like pandering, so I’ll stop now, but the truth of the matter is, I’m just really excited. The contest runs till March 18th, so you better get a move on!

SteelSeries, happy 10th! I hope your parents get you that sweet mountain bike you’ve been wanting.

World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm™ MMO Gaming Mouse – Review

World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm™ MMO Gaming Mouse – Review

I’m the kind of guy that becomes immediately skeptical when someone says, “You’ve got to try such-and-such.” So imagine my surprise when I’m at a Las Vegas bachelor party that I have got to try
SteelSeries products.

Over the years, I’ve become a huge fan of MMOs so I decided to put my skepticism to the test by trying the World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm™ MMO Gaming Mouse. Let’s go through my preconceived notions before opening the box so that we can establish a baseline. A long time friend of mine told me that he took his mouse back because it was sluggish in its response time and hard to program; I hate buttons for the sake of buttons on peripherals; and of course “you’ve got to try this.”
