Golgothoughts – THQ Needs More Things Like CheapyD DLC

Golgothoughts – THQ Needs More Things Like CheapyD DLC

The rumor going around about THQ looking to sell to a Chinese investment company and canceling their 2014 lineup is probably true. I mean, how many years can you get by with WWE and Warhammer games being your flagship franchises? It’s a shame really, as I only came to respect THQ in the last year after finally getting around to Darksiders, and thoroughly enjoying WWE All-Stars and Saints Row: The Third. They’re also publishing the Obsidian-developed South Park game which looks fantastic, so hopefully they hold out as long as they can. I really think if they just focused more on what people like and less on collecting IPs to publish and lose money on, THQ could complete the turnaround they started early last year.

For now, revel is the wonder that is the CheapyD homie in Saints Row: The Third.

Review – Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Warhammer 40,000 has had a good run of things in the video game arena thus far. The famed Dawn of War RTS series has (with the unfortunate exception of Soulstorm) been expertly made and managed to bring Warhammer 40k into the mainstream. However, with the recent release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, Relic Entertainment has tried to bring the player down from their position as commander right into the shoes of the titular superhuman defenders of the Imperium. How did Relic handle the transition to third-person shooter with hack-n-slash action, and more importantly does it live up to the quality of its forbearers?

WWE All Stars: Hype Begin OK!

WWE All Stars: Hype Begin OK!

Although far less vocal than fighting and sports game players, wrestling game enthusiasts are intensely particular about their genre; they more often than not, tend to go far lengths to experience new titles or support established franchises. This kind of genre-specific dedication is truly fascinating to me, but comes as no surprise, considering the huge impact professional wrestling has on different cultures. THQ, no stranger to the wresting game genre, is set to release WWE All Stars on March 29th. Although wrestling games seem to come out at a somewhat consistent clip, All Stars looks to set itself apart from the pack by approaching the genre not from the traditional wresting simulation angle, but as a wrestling/competitive fighting game hybrid.

YOU DON’T KNOW JACK Promises to be Wackier than Wack Itself

YOU DON’T KNOW JACK Promises to be Wackier than Wack Itself

How tall are the letters in the Hollywood sign? Which KISS song did Garth Brooks inexplicably cover? Is there a more annoying way to start an article than rhetorical questions?

I’m just prepping y’all for winter, when pop culture favorite YOU DON’T KNOW JACK comes to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and — developers THQ and Jellyvision hope — your living room. With its “signature brand” of “twisted humor,” the newest JACK hopes to draw trivia junkies and poop humorists alike into the oh-so exciting world of interactive game shows.
