7 Things the Wii Still Needs to Do

7 Things the Wii Still Needs to Do

With the Nintendo Wii making its last gasps in the shadow of the Wii U, I felt that it would be appropriate to look back on the things that could have been. I came up with a list of 7 things that the Wii still needs to do before it rolls over and dies.

Nintendo Fans Unite for Operation Rainfall

Nintendo Fans Unite for Operation Rainfall

As Golgotron’s undisputed number one Nintendo fanboy, it is my duty to get as many eyes as possible on this story. A group of Wii owners (upset at the lack of quality games for the Wii as it dies a slow, painful death) have taken to the internets and the IGN message boards in hopes of gaining the attention of one Reggie Fils-Aime.

DJ Hero 2 Spawns First Ever Video Game-Created Music Video

If you’re into snorting OxyContin and watching MTV Euro at 4 am, then this news will really excite you: the first-ever music video compromised entirely of video game footage has been created to coincide with the release of DJ Hero 2. This announcement comes courtesy of ActiVision in partnership with world famous DJ Tiesto, whose video “Speed Rail” was written specifically for the game. Along with another exclusive track, Tiesto initially starting playing both mixes at his concerts, going so far as to play clips from the game featuring his likeness. Eventually he liked the look of it so much that he asked game developers to craft an entire music video using said footage. As a brand ambassador for DJ Hero 2, his worldwide notoriety (he is currently on tour across 6 continents, playing to over 1 million fans) only enhances appeal for the game.

Super Mario Turns 25 and That Makes Me Feel Super Old

It’s been twenty-five years since legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto introduced us to Super Mario Bros, the most popular and enduring video game franchise in history. To celebrate the iconic plumbers’ milestone, Nintendo is releasing two limited edition red bundles: first, the New Super Mario Bros Nintendo DSi XL Special Edition Pack, which includes a red DSi XL branded with the franchise’s characters (obviously) and a copy of New Super Mario Bros (probably more obviously), and second, the New Super Mario Bros Wii Pack that comes with a red Wii, a red Nunchuck, a red Wii Remote Plus, and three games. Not only will that include New Super Mario Bros and Wii Sports, but the original Donkey Kong (featuring Mario’s first appearance) will come pre-installed on the system.

25 Years of Super Mario Bros: A Look Back Through Mushroom Kingdom History

25 Years of Super Mario Bros: A Look Back Through Mushroom Kingdom History

The man responsible for most well-known characters in gaming, including Link, Donkey Kong and our heroes, the Mario Brothers, Shigeru Miyamoto celebrates the 25th anniversary of his breakthrough side-scrolling epic with a historic video look-back at the evolution of gaming’s most recognizable face.

As Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros crosses the same quarter-century milestone I myself crossed in May, I look back at a literal lifetime of Mario with great reverence.   Since 1985’s release of the second-most selling console game of all-time, over 200 Nintendo titles have featured the eponymous Mario Bros.   Plumber Power is as prolific and topical today as it was back in ’85, and to celebrate, we are going to take a look back at a cross-section of the different Mario Milestones across the ages.
